Questions
What is Bertolotti syndrome?
Bertolotti syndrome is persistent pain caused by a lumbosacral transitional vertebra, a difference in the bones at the base of the spine that is present from birth. About one in ten Australians has such a vertebra, and most never know. In a minority it causes lower back, buttock or hip pain that is often treated for years as ordinary strain. Clear Mind Press's guides summarise the published evidence; they are not medical advice.
Which Bertolotti syndrome guides does Clear Mind Press publish?
Clear Mind Press publishes a series of Bertolotti syndrome guides by Suzanne H Visser, each for one Australian audience: GPs; physiotherapists, chiropractors and osteopaths; radiologists; spine surgeons; pain physicians; emergency clinicians; employers and insurers; young athletes; family and friends; and children (for GPs and specialists). All of these guides are available now. The press also publishes her book Bertolotti Syndrome and her personal account The Million-Dollar Misdiagnosis.
